Bunnings Balcatta Sausage Sizzle Fundraising
Neal Crocker
On Sunday the 5th of March (from 7am to 4pm), our club hosted a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle fundraiser at Bunnings, Balcatta. The day was immensely hot, with temperatures reaching up to a scorching 36.2 degrees. Although, despite this extreme heat, many club members turned up to the event. They prepared, cooked and served the sausages and drinks, luckily being cooled by a couple of fans provided by Bunnings and Clint.
Although it was ridiculously hot we still managed to sell hundreds of sausages and drinks. This turned up a profit of around $1200, which will hugely benefit our club in the future. Bunnings even kindly sectioned off a row of parking spaces to display our cars, which the public showed a huge interest in. Many people came up to club members asking questions about the R and S series Valiants we had on display.
Also, after a long debate at our previous meeting, we even managed to get the right sausage to bun ratio. The 7-inch Tip-Top buns easily managed to accommodate our Avon Valley Beef sausages. There was no ‘sausage-overhang’ that we previously feared.
Finally, a massive thank you to all the dedicated members who willingly gave up their day to help fundraise for the club. We can’t thank you enough for helping with the Sausage Sizzle, even in unbearable, almost 40-degree heat. Also, a massive thanks to everyone who brought out their Valiants to help promote the club, and show the public their ‘pride and joy’. Another huge thanks goes out to Will and Frank from Bunnings, without them this amazing day would not have happened, and run so smoothly. Overall the Sausage Sizzle was an enormous success, and hopefully we can secure another Bunnings Sausage Sizzle in the future.
